Cool OT: Women and 911s

This is kind of related to another thread (the IQ one!). Anyway I was wondering how many women do you guys know that actually own and drive a 911?
I only know Sarah on this board, are there any in So Cal?

I have seen quite a number of women driving 911s in SoCal...and actually most of them were driving older cars (young women, older cars...youza). Still I'd guess at less than 1% of all 911s though. By far the favorite female p-car here is the Boxster...

Another girl...

I have a silver 88 911, and I'm a girl! Had a VW Cabrio before, but my husband found the 911 in the paper. He already had an 83...and he claims that he wanted the 88 in the family.

It was pretty easy to get rid of the Cabrio...a really cute and fun car, but a total dog (four cyclinder) in terms of acceleration.

A young guy (young like me )was parked next to me at the beach in a red SC. Being and SC guy myself I said "nice car" to get the converation started. He said he was going to the States to work for a couple of years and was going to leave the car with his EX Girlfriend so it would be driven reguarly. Ummm, the number of miles I've done tring to spot a red 911 with a female driver...

What % of women that you see driving 911s do you think are the buyers/owners?

If you are counting 996s, you would lose count here. I've seen 'em driving 996tt's, more than I can count. A few famous faces I've seen driving them; Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, Thora Birch, etc...

When I picked up my car from my mechanic a few weeks ago, A woman was picking up her 996 Cab. later that week, I spoted and older woman driving an SC Cab on the highway... with the top down no less.

Alas, my wife likes 928s, but I'm working on her.

There are a plenty of ladies in the NZ Porsche Club - one in particular spanks the crap out of the car at drivers ed, gymkhanas etc. I mean spanking it harder than the guys.

There's a few on the Rennlist email list, one drives a RUF. I've seen a few here in Houston on the road, and that's not counting boxsters, mostly bellows bumpered cars.

When I first went to look at my 911, the salesman tried to steer me towards a Miata!

Great to see women both in Pcars and on this 'board.

My wife drove a Cabriolet ('91) for years. The car was a mystery to me, what with the varying idle, popping from the inevitable manifold warp/leak, and whatnot. That four cylinder is actually very nice, but I swear if I had known more about the Motronic and oxy sensors we might still have that car.

My wife will not own a car that does not have a back seat. Being a huge vintage Mercedes fan, I talked her into a '79 450sl. Didn't work out though - no back seat (though it was an option).

I keep telling her I will buy her an '83SCCab. as a reward for getting through school. She is not interested.

A friend of mine has had a 912E that was purchased new by his father. He just bought a 993, and now his wife is getting pretty fond of it. We'll see who drives it more often....

I told the salesman that when I said it would be just a “weekend car,” I meant a weekend project car (it had quite a few known problems when I bought it) and yes, I would really like to see the 911 that was advertised. I guess he was thinking a weekend road trip car…

Thankfully I found this board, and John Walker to help with the repairs that have been over my head. Its become my daily driver while my other car is waiting for some attention.

OK, so the question is, would you take Anna or the 996? I'd have to go for Anna. Sure, a Porsche's a status symbol, but not as much of one as Anna is. Besides, it's only a 996 - now an RSR, that's a tough choice

Men own Porsches
Women own Porsches
Anna K. owns Porsches
Even some idiots own Porsches
Does that about cover it?

This board and Rennlist probably see less participation from women (including Anna K.) because these boards attract people that work on their cars and "historically" guys are the ones who do this.

PS- Anna K hands down over the 996!

What on earth makes anyone think that Anna Kournikova owns/likes Porsches?? If I "owned" every vehicle that I've ever walked past on the way into a nightclub/restaurant, that would be some collection.

OK, rant over, time for some coffee.
