Post what will Porsche do when it runs out of 9s?

I.E. 964, 968 986, 996...
Kinda a silly Question but one i've been wondering about practically since I was a kid.

will they start making 811s? or perhaps 1011s?

or will they all be named after herbs & spices

as in
the new Porsche Turmeric
or the Porsche Nutmeg (nicknamed MACE)

how about a Porsche SUV called ANICE?
CILANTRO?
MARJORAM?
FENUGREEK?
CREME of TARTAR?

I'm wondering what the novelist Sue Grafton is going to do when she runs out of letters of the alphabet to name her books after....

There is only one 911.
After that nothing else matters.

well, since things like 964, 993, and 996 are largely internal designations (they are still 911's), it won't matter. The 924, 928, 944, 968 are totally different models.

They tried to kill the 911 in the 80's, and it wouldn't die. Some people think that the 996 isn't a 911 since it isn't air-cooled. That's another religious argument (and at this point, I'd welcome it over more jingo-ist anti-whoever tripe).

As long as the profile lives, so lives the 911. No need for another number...

We are stretching the "9" numbers and won't use it for any other projects any more. The 997 will be out in a few years, then we will have a 997 facelift, 998, 998 facelift etc., so there are still some useable life in the "9" numbers. Cayenne is called "E1", other new projects will also start with a letter.
Regards
Stef

Thanks Stef for an actual answer.

so will the new ones have names then rather than numbers?
Any significance in using "E" ?

We Germans like uniformity. Perhaps it is a rub off from the BMWs??? (E39, etc)
