Removing factory stickers from dash crash rail
I picked up a nice dash crash rail (knee guard etc) that has the factory sticker on it for cruise control operation. My '74 doesn't have cruise control and the joke had worn off so time for the sticker to go away. Any one have a recommendation on best way to do that without harming the pad?
Thanks |
WD40. Let it soak in and you can remove both the sticker and the adhesive.

I don't know what it is stuck on with, but have you tried a hair dryer, or a heat gun on low temp? It's hard to imagine softening adhesive by other means, if it is indeed stuck on. What color is the knee pad? Will there be a non-faded spot under the sticker?
In the end, maybe you need an appropriate sticker to go over the old inappropriate one. |
Low temp het gun and then peel, goof off for the residual glue.

Those are just an adhesive backed sticker. I recently installed a new Cruise sticker on a client's 911SC. The original had been peeled off and stuck haphazardly to the shift console.

Thanks guys - this one was low miles and stored inside so fingers crossed.
Won't something like WD40 mark the rest of the vinyl? |
WD40 is safe, I wouldn't use Goof Off, too hot and could pull the dye and melt the vinyl.
Try some heat, even steam from an iron followed by adhesive remover, 3M is great and safe. Turtle Wax bug and tar remover works great on a lot of things and is safe and cheap. |
