Brake pads for street and ax
Getting close for new brake pads. I am thinking about hawk hp plus up front? Is it worth it? What are the drawbacks?

Possible noise.
Look into Rapaports RS4's ( street use ) it will be fine for AX too, Quiet.

In my opinion you can't go wrong with stock pads. I would only go to more grippy/durabal pads when your putting a lot of heat into the system, like when you track.

Oh no Textar's OEM manufacturer was very good but very dusty and noisy in my case.

well, in my opinion Porsche has never sold a car with noisy brakes. I would suggest not buying OEM but buying from Porsche, it is not the same stuff...

I like the hawk hp s+t. Overall works as a good compromise. Track only pads are superior. But they do chew up rotors. I run them street and moderate DE events. WGI gets track pads.

Looks like spell check got you. Porterfield R4S. Pelican carries them now. -J

I use Mintex Reds for AX and street. Work great. Rotor friendly. Not much dust.

I have raced on many and only run Carbotech now. The XP10 were a fantastic pad and the 1521's or Ax6's would be perfect for your application.

Porterfield R4S is exactly what I would use for a hard street, AX, and some track use. Good price, good bite, good fade resistance, and good life. I now use them on every vehicle I get.

Porterfield R4S sound interesting... From what I see the brake sensors won't fit, do I just unplug them? Do I need to seal/tape the connector?

I bought some Ferodo pads a few years back that were street/track. Argh. They were hopeless and very dangerous. Sure on a track after a few laps and by the time they had got really hot they were great. But real world driving such as someone reversing out of a driveway without looking; they were useless. So be careful you don't get a set too "high spec".

Ferodo DS3000 or DS2500.
Produce a fair amount of dust but their stopping power is impressive. I don't find any noise or low-speed performance issues.

Porterfield pads, especially the R4S were nothing but trouble on my 944S2... I ran them a few times and always had fade, poor initial bite etc with them and even bought a couple pairs. Once I switched to Carbotech it was night and day.

Yes, I have heard others say the same. I don't understand why they work well in my application, and I am definitely in the 'light on the brakes' category.

If you unplug them the dash light will come on. They work by breaking a circuit when they are "cut" by a rotor. The easiest thing is to leave them hooked up and zip tie them up out of the way.
