Brake pedal disconnection
Hi, I'm gaining frustration at what is supposed to be easy.
Where do you disconnect the brake rods on 83SC please? See pics. Only one rod can be disconnected from inside the car further up. Also there's some sort of pin attachment? Any detail on this - I've searched and nothing delves into this in detail. I need teletubby level answers to avoid destroying my car setup. Thank you very much |

pull the clip out of the pin with visegrips, then work the pin out. looks like someone put that pin in backwards. take the 10mm bolt out of the upper aluminum housing. leave both rods attached to the pedal cluster and wiggle it out.

Thanks a lot - the pin you're referring to is the one at the top not the u clip near pedal then? So pin out near top and disconnect flat rod at MC at top is that it? Thanks. How do you get to the bolt right under the brake holding the cluster to floor?

no brake rod in the trunk, just it's attaching bolt for the flat bar on the left side of the aluminum booster housing. use a 17mm wrench. once the round brake rod is detached at the pin, the pedal can move forward so you can get at the nut under the pedal. remove the cluster as a unit with both rods attached. note the angle of the flat bar on reassembly. a scribe line works.

Over come your frustration.......
cluskera,
JW gave you the instruction. You could either disconnect the flat metal brace and the round MC rod at the pedal cluster or up high by the brake boosted. You could remove the complete brake pedal assembly either way. Three (3) simple steps to follow: 1). Remove the bolt (fastener) to the flat bar brace. 2). Remove the pin to the brake booster rod. 3). Remove the two nuts holding the brake pedal housing to the floor. Pull or slide the brace and rod away to get the pedal cluster off. And you are done. This is a 10-min. job. Keep us posted. Tony |

don't disconnect the flat bar at the pedal cluster. way too much hassle on reassembly.

I have honest concern for cluskera, removal of the cluster has nothing on dealing with the roll pin or putting the clutch spring back on. Tasks I didn't find all that fun.

I had help with mine. I think the book makes it sound a lot easier than it is.

Suggest referencing a repair manual before starting. This helps disassembly as well as assembly, avoids removing extra pieces and provides a reference to adjacent parts.
Porsche Original Parts Catalogue - Parts and Diagnostic Information - Porsche Service - Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG In addition, usie an internet search engine (e.g. Google.com), and use the phrase, "pelican XXXXX" (where XXXXX is the topic to search). Sherwood |
