Question Need Help 71E front suspension

I'am the proud new owner of a 71E and I need advice on what best to do with the front suspension. It still has the orig. self leveling struts but they seem to be non functional. Whats involved in converting to a S setup and where can I get the parts.

Thanks

You can check the Porsche parts ads here, and on Rennlist.
You can contact Partheaven in Hayward, CA, a big seller of used Porsche parts.
You could place a "parts wanted" ad in the above places.
You might try Oklahoma Foreign in OKCity

just a few thoughts...

I have a complete 1970 T front end converted over to Koni Adjustables. I would be willing to sell you the front struts only, for about the price of the Koni shocks plus shipping

let me know...

Correct me if I am wrong, but don't you also need the torsion bars? I thought the self-leveling front end did not use torsion bars?

Cool

As I remember, the shock manufacturers, koni, bilstein, boge all made the self leveling struts also.

The self leveling strut is larger in diameter than a regular strut and doesn't have a dust shield that slides up and down with the shock shaft. It simply has a bellows located on the top of the strut and attached to the top of shock shaft.

Good luck,
David Duffield

Koni built some of the hydro struts for Porsche ...

The required conversion parts in a factory conversion kit are shown below ...

A drawing shows the total hydro package at the front end ... including the rubber bellows between strut dust cover and body mount.

Then you don't have to worry about the converstion. You should have everything pictured above, including the regular torsion bar adjuster with 11 mm hex end at the rear of the torsion bars ... for height adjustments!!!
