Members,

Just wanted to ask a few questions about the club in general. Are there many or any members around the age of 20 in the club?
I have been wanting to join the club for some time now but the fact that I don't own a 911 and am only 19 keeps me away. I don't really want to take part in any track events, just maybe come along once in a while when you have tech days where maybe I could learn a few things without getting in anyones way. I am going to join for sure, at least I can get the newsletter. I just think it would be better for me to get involved in some form, that way when I come to purchase a car I know what I am doing.
Maybe langers will tag along...hehe.

Anthony.

Obrut and Tinton,

You're not going to believe this.... I live literally 5 minutes from Hamilton's, but I will be less than 2 minutes down the road doing this community involvement programme for school at St Vincent de Paul in Brookvale!!

Don't know how parking is going to go but im sure the boys will have somthing worked out. I will be able to complete the community involvement another day so I'll make a serious effort to be there. Grant gave me a personal invitation so it'd be rude to decline lol. I've just got to be at work down the road by five.

I'll look out for your car Obrut - how should I identify you?

Obrut - I have to get ready now but I'll be there. Look for what will probably be the only teenager there lol.

Missed it!

Langers - How was it? I got jammed up and had to miss it.

BTW - I'm pretty easy to spot - if its a road event then look out for a loud Porsche/Kremer930 (79, black on black - rego OBRUT). If its at a track then dark blue 73RS replica with red everything else (wheels, seats, cage, stripe etc)

Tinton - club is a good resource, quite a few early 20's etc and lots of people that don't yet have p-cars. (I might not have bought my first piece of ***** 911 if I had been a member). Most people are pretty helpful and happy to chat about their cars.

Track days are also good for this as there is heaps of standing around waiting for your go and lots to do - tyre pressures, stopwatch etc. (plus track marshalls are always in short supply)

ps: what does a 'bump' post mean?

Obrut,

It was very interesting and informative. The Wax Wizard company is run by two people, Michael the researcher, and Mary the detailer. They now have a mobile service. The cost is $55 per hour, and I would guess the average time per car would be 6 hours to make the paint immaculate. In 10 hours they can make the entire car look absolutely brand new including interior, underbody etc.

Probably should correct myself here... having re-read all the Wax Wizard documentation, they do have an interior service but it is considered extra, not part of any of the three available packages. Remember though the work is charged by the hour, not by what is done.

Two cars were done, both non-clearcoat. A black 1990 928 and an unspecified year white 944 S2. The 928 came out looking soooooooooooo good. Not a single scratch anwhere, it was like looking into a mirror. Im am not kidding when I say that it would have to be the best $400 you could ever spend on your paint - especially seeing as yours is black.

Informative as the day was, car cleaning and detailing products still confuse the hell out of me so I will just get them to detail my car when I have the money and then try and maintain it from there in terms of minimising scratches.

"Bump" moves the thread back to the top of the list, as the list is sorted in order of most recent posts. TTT (meaning "to the top") is another way of doing this.

Are you going to the Eastern Creek sprint?

Klaus

Thanks for the summary Klaus

I have a good reason for missing the Eastern Creek round - Classic Adelaide. 5 days, no speed limits....

Cheers - Ryan

They didn't do the interior. The way I see it, any idiot can clean and even restore his or her interior to some extent.
They did go quickly through a few of the products they would use, including a wet-dry vacuum system, Zymol protectant and so forth. Basically recommended against Armour-All or anything with silicone in it. I'm presuming that other than using the wrong products, you couldn't do much wrong to your interior - i.e. you are not going to get swirl marks on your dashboard and so forth.

As I said, I'm sold on this. I was going to get a detailer to have a go at my car anyway, but I thought it would be much more than $55 per hour.

If you have a specific problem Jack let me know, I might be able to figure it out or at least recommend a product....I have managed to keep the interior of my Citroen looking brand new for 3 years.

Hah Ryan that's no excuse Good luck, hope you keep the car straight.

Klaus
