Kill switch on 72?
 

There is a tech article that shows one how to install a kill switch via the tach. Has anyone done this?

What is the point of asking a question about an article you do not provide a link to? I just looked through the whole technical article list, and there is not one title that includes 'kill switch' ...

This is the third time I recall seeing a post in the past month or so where an article was mentioned but no article exists with a title even remotely close to what was mentioned!

The previous two were posts were by an arrogant so-and-so who just said in a rather coy manner ... 'just check my tech article!'

It doesn't take a tech article to wire a switch or relay to the tachometer input lead, which kills the CDI-unit output for all '69 thru '77 cars with a point-triggered CDI-system!

A kill switch means different things to different people. A DE/track kill switch is explained in UP-FIXIN VOL X p.121. A anti-theft kill switch is in VOL V p.102,104; VOL VI p.314; VOL IX p.316.....Back-up systems are important, all kinds of systems. A 30 yr. vet. of NYC auto squad told me to get a gizmo that kills car after thief is driving away with it , he's then out of there fast. I also leave a love letter on dash, " Anyone found in this car at nite will be found here in the morning ". Lo-Jack type systems may not work if PD is on other detail. I find out what routine is at car stereo shops, install one like it then add back-up systems.

Anyway, I plan to install the cut-off switch soon. I can't decide on the best spot with a mix of convenience and inconspicous. Just,"under the dash" seems alittle too obvious to me. Any thought?

I have a unique kill switch on my Jeep Cherokee. It's the cig. lighter. As I never smoke, this is a great use of the is obsolete part. Push in the lighter to complete the starter system. Pull it out and car won't start while it appears natural. Got to see if I can hook one up on my '70 Targa when I get back to the US.
