Big trip for 72E

I'm going to imitate Ron on a smaller scale. I'll be driving from Chicago to WPB Fla. in my 72 911E tomorrow and coming back later next week. I got my tools, and spare parts, fuses, lights, cdi, plugs, coil, oil, brake fluid, tire inflator, puncture repair kit, shades, and the wife thinks I need some clothes or something.

Anyway, its not exactly a vacation, but this is the car of choice for the job.

I'l be taking 65 south into Kentucky and then 24 over to Chattanoga and then 75 on down south. If anyfello pelicans se the white beast on the highway, shoot me a wave!!

Hopefully the drive will be pleasurable anyway!!

Are the big ticket zones in GA still down south?

I hope to wave at some pelicans

Sounds like a great trip. There has been a lot of rain in Florida recently so check your wipers and blades.
Good luck -

Yes , GA speedtraps are as legendary as ever...

1 guy clocking, and about 10 other cars waiting to pull whole groups of cars over...amazing.

Your timing could be better, re: Isidore just moving through that area. Anyway, best of luck on your journey.

PS: I didn't see the Valentine 1, AAA card, or cell phone on your list

Cool

Dennis...Go Man Go..great to see 911 guys doing a big ride..I'd ask you to stop by my house for coffee, but I'm not even close to your path..anyway, when in dangerous areas, pay attention on how the locals are driving..and big rigs only do the limit if bears are around..a cheap Radio Shack CB tuned to ch 19 does provide useful info..cost maybe $60...but you may need resistor spark plugs............Ron

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll take it easy down in GA!! I do have bad timing as I'll be missing the F-1 race I had tickets for, but family is more important than a race. I'll just go next year, maybe the championship will still be up in the air.

Looks like some of the rain down south is subsiding and I'll miss some by the time I get there, but that big a$$ band going threw KY is not looking good. Good thing I have MFI .

I plan to look and wave at any porsches I see, even 996's, and may try to take some pics if any great scenes present themselves. I don't think Jack has anything to worry about though!

You know, the last time I went cross country in the 911, it was the winter of 92 from Seattle to WPB Fla. That was a trek and that was when I endured a broken rockershaft in Colorado.

Who'd uv thought a 911 with 50 wt oil would have trouble starting at 30 below!
