Question Am I high? (I mean my fan belt...)

Hi Pelicans - see fan belt/pulley on my '83SC. I've got a Contitech belt in there, the one John Walker says is too big (factory is 9.5mm and this belt is 10mm). I've got all 6 shims on the outside of the pulley, but I am thinking I could put 1 on the inside. Belt seems to deflect to finger press about what the factory says it should. Is the belt riding too high up on the pulley half? Any thoughts?

Thanks! And Happy 4th of July!

I've tried a couple of different brands of belts including Conti and they all fit a little on the loose side. The Porsche OEM belts are cheap and fit perfectly.

It will likely wear prematurely. Keep a correct sized spare on hand.

+1 I test fit a half dozen belts. The only one close to working as well as the OEM Porsche belt was a GoodYear Gatorback belt and it only took a couple of months for it to stretch beyond usable limits. -J
