oil pump/hpv-1 ????s

79sc 3.0 oil pump, there seems to be some kind of bonding agent where the oil pick up tube meets the pump,is this some kind of insurance or a cheap fix,also should the pick up tube be loose? now onto the hpv1 ??s twin plug set up does one bank of coils run the top plugs, and the other banks of coils run bottom? also where the coil mount on that gold colored plate there are 5 or 6 electrical connectors what are those for? thanks again al from mass
