PPI in Monterey.

Nephew is buying a 993. Need a recommendation for a good shop to perform a PPI on it.

Thanks.

You could try calling Don at Don's AutoWerks in Campbell and see if he knows of any good mechanics in Monterey or Salinas. There is a place in Santa Cruz (Fastlane) that I would recommend. Tim, Fastlane owner, has been around a long time and at one point attended many autocrosses but I don't have direct experience with him. Good luck.

PPI recommendation.......

If San Jose, CA is acceptable to the owner, I would recommend to have the car inspected by Dan H. aka (Syncroid). When I was looking for a car in the San Francisco area, Dan was my man to do the PPI. Reliable and trustworthy. I could PM his cell phone number to you (if needed).

Lots of good choices if car can be looked at in the San Jose area.
I don't know who will give the best going over. If the car can be looked at in San Jose you might repost with a different title as it opens up so many possibilities. There are probably posts and threads already here somewhere.

If the car is closer to Monterey, then there is likely no reason to go somewhere else for a PPI.

You might try to contact the Monterey Bay PCA Region President Steve. I have known him for a long time. I visited with him at the Parade concours a few weeks ago.

Look here: Porsche Club of America, Monterey Bay » Officers & Board Members.

He may recommend David Loop if he is still available for PPI's.

As mentioned, about 45 minutes north in the SJ area, Don Wise and Mark at Sportech in Campbell are also outstanding folks with excellent local reputations and longterm relationships with enthusiasts and PCA members.

And of course as mentioned, even further north are Dan, Dan and Bob at RMG Enterprises. Outstanding and experts folks and really, really nice people.

I am sure there are a few others as well. There was a similar thread a while back:

Need a PPI Shop reco in Monterey CA

Feel free to send me a PM if you need further context/feedback.

By the way, Steve and David are fellow 911 racers with the Porsche Racing Club.
