pop out rear quarter window question
hey folks,
in the process of stripping and repainting my old beast. fixing lots of rust and replacing old worn out seals. I have door seals and also front hood seal, but I noticed that the seals for the rear quarter windowns are brittle and cracked. is there a porsche specific replacement for these seals?

Yes. There are inner and outer seals sold by our host. The inner ones are a bear to replace because the screws holding the window frame together are usually rusted to a point that they don't want to come apart.

When looking at the frame from the outside, you can see the frame has a seem that runs at the upright portion of the window. When you remove the rubber seal, there are screws inside the channel that holds the rubber seal in place. when you remove these screws, you can pull the frame apart. When you pull the frame apart, you can pull the entire window out. The window is held in the frame with a rubber seal.
The problem is getting the frame apart to replace that inner rubber seal. Here is a link to the outer seal. Pelican Parts - Product Information: 901-543-191-20-M136 and a link for the inner seal. Pelican Parts - Product Information: 901-543-191-20-M136 |

Getting the frame apart to replace the inner seal is a tough job, and getting the outer seal back into its channel is really tough too.
To save you some really sore fingers and frustration, digging around in the forums, it was found that using the little opener that comes with paint can is the perfect profile for getting the seal into the channel. |
