Foggy Guages

My Temp/Druck guage foggs up after about 10 mins of use. Any ideas of what causes this?

I assume Ill have to pull the unit and clean the inside of water?

Anything special I should know before I pull it?

It's actually pretty normal for them to do this. You won't find any water in there. The gauges are just poorly vented.

As you've guessed, they all do it, at least in humid environments. If Dallas has had half of the rain that Houston has had.... I've heard that drilling a tiny hole in the bottom of the gauge cup (the part behind the dash that you don't see) will eliminate this. I've noticed that the gauges that fog get noticably warm to the touch which is what, I believe, causes the fog. I've toyed with the idea of putting a dessicate(sp) pack in the gauge.

I think it must be the heater ducts behind the gauge? Moisture in the gauge and het causes condensation.

Best bet is to drive the car hard until you drive the water out of the gauge, sort of like with the oil...
