sticking tach when hot

My tach is sticking when the car sits outside in heat. Once the car cools off it starts working again. I read flipping the lens may fix the issue. I can only pull the tach out about an inch or two before it hits the wheel column. Does the outer bezel twist off? Anyone know how to flip the glass quickly without removing the steering wheel and column cover? Thanks. Brian

Brian, the room between the wheel and tach as you know is limited, the best way to remove the gauge is to remove the steering wheel. I personally would not recommend removing the glass lens on your tach because the bezel that holds it in place is easily damaged if you try to remove it with a flat head screw driver etc... think of it as opening a can, that bezel will never be the same. gauge repair professionals such as North Hollywood Speedometer can easily fix your problem. I got my spedo fixed by them, they are top notch. hope this helps.

Might be a CDI problem.

1982. Seems like needle it hitting glass once the car heats up. Of you tap the glass the needle will move. After driving and cooling the car down it will start working again. Always works when car is cool and in garage.

Best to have it rebuilt by a speedo/tach shop. Too easy to booger up the bezel with out the right tools or expertise.

I had my speedo done due to a back plastic gear. $110 and an hour of wait. Or you can ship it.

You can google speedo shops n your area. Not rocket science.
