Can anyone help me figure out what this part is

Hi! I hope this is a simple fix, but I don't know what happened. I have a 1986 911 and noticed today that this part had fallen out. It is in the wheel well on the passenger side rear tire. It looks like it has hoses attached to the engine- oil tank area and inside it has metal filters and a stainless tube in the middle of it. It must have been scraping the wheel well and finally gave in. thanks in advance! Trying to attach a photo, but won't work.
