I live by the water on LI NY, it's not always the heat but the humidity, the AC might not be super cold but at least it removes the humidity and makes it usable. I have a stock system but will be updating it this winter for more efficient cooling.

thank you pelicans for all your responses .. plan is to make mine work again and check it out during the summer and decide then .. thanks!

Scrapped mine but kept the blower ; ducted the AC blower air under the dash to blow into cabin. Works fine , via convection. Car goes quicker too, but if you are stuck in big city traffic (an argument for AC) that's not really a priority is it?

is there a good step by step guide to remove it?

I use mine and it has been slightly upgraded. I started with a working system, and its nice to have although I don't use it a ton. Helps with humidity, the occasional July commute and long distance trips. It generally gets the job done - but barely.
If I obtained a car where it was working I would likely keep and possibly upgrade. If I I came into a car where it was a mess, I would likely remove the whole thing. |
I used mine up until last week when a leak in the low suction hose occurred. I am in the process of getting a new hose and receiver dryer to get the system back working again. I live in Alabama and A/C is a must. The system doesn't work as well as a modern system but, its better than nothing.
