H4 Lens Placement rubber question

Since I broke my lens while fixing the bulb/wiring problem, I now have another issue.

Since the rubber that surrounds the lens is torn I had to replace it. Well the old one is "U" shaped and fits around the the outside of the lens, very nicely and protects the lens edge on both sides.

The new one is not "U" shaped and is about 1/4 inch think with a raised edge. The part they gave me was 911-631-115-02 they said it is the updated version but it looks to me that it is either the wrong part or I just do not understand how its to be installed.. Has anyone been down this road?

Is this the wrong part? Is it the correct part and I am just not understanding the way it attaches?

Thanks in advance.

Richard,

That is the 'updated' headlamp-to-bucket/fender seal!

The correct glass seal is a VW/356 part ... it dates back to 1949 and the original Bug headlamp assemblies made by Hella!

VW# 111.941.119

356# 644.631.114.00

Is there anything you do not know?

Since your answering questions how about these?

When will the stock market go up?
Is SUNW a good buy at this price?
Will it ever get under 100 in Phoenix this year?

lol Warren, thank you so much, guess I can call the local auto parts store.

THANK YOU
