a/c hose routing in engine compartment
 

Hi guys,
On my 84 coupe, the a/c compressor, condenser, and engine compartment hoses have been removed. They may have been coiled and ziptied under the car. Anyway, I plan to replace my hoses and the others are still present, to give me routing info. My question is where, and how do the two long hoses enter the engine compartment. I have looked around some, and it looks pretty well sealed. I have read about slots that they enter through but I am not seeing them.

Evaporator to Compressor Suction:
After the rear most hose clamp the hose is routed upward, adjacent to the
RH heater box. There is a 'slot' higher up where the hose enters the engine bay.
Inside the engine bay the slot is located adjacent to the shock tower.

Deck Lid Condenser to Front Condenser:
Ditto on the LH side

I have just reinstalled my factory A/C and all of the original hoses. Getting the compressor and condenser hoses into the engine compartment can be done a lot easier with a partial or full engine drop. In my case the engine was out of the car.

Here is the pic of the route I took in the engine compartment for the rear condenser hose that goes to the front condenser via the drivers side route.

Here is the pic of the route I took in the engine compartment for the compressor suction hose from the evaporator in the smugglers box via the passengers side. The compressor is on a stool so I can draw a vacuum.

No need for engine drop
 

I just replaced all hoses and compressor. Had no problems rerouting hoses with everything in place. I did not even remove the air cleaner cover. My car was only on jack stands (no lift).
Follow Kuehls advice. You will see the holes in front of the heater valves.
