Carrera 3.2 Factory brake pads

Hello all,

I am gathering parts in advance for replacing both front and rear brake pads. I would prefer to keep the original clip-on pad sensors and use factory/Porsche OEM pads if possible. The rear set for the wide M caliper is still available from Porsche with correct notches in the backing plate (#911.351.923.00), however the front set (listed as 911.351.950.06 with box labelled 911.351.950.06 and pad printed with 911.351.940.05) requires the newer glue-in sensor (as pictured).

Does Porsche currently manufacture a front brake pad set for 1988 Carrera with original notched backing plates? If not, is there an NOS part number or Textar/Jurid pad set I should be searching for?

Thanks for your time and input!

Porsche doesn't manufacture much of anything, except for completed cars. The pads are outsourced. You should be able to find what you need on the aftermarket. As always, if you give us a bit more information about the specific application, you'll be able to get a better answer.

Thanks! Car is an original 1988 911 3.2 cabriolet, street-driven only, no modifications from stock.

It arrived with a new set of Bendix pads (which fit the original sensors), I was simply trying to upgrade (?) to the original factory pads for perhaps better braking.

Mintex makes them with the notches. They work well and are inexpensive and quiet.

Here's what I use on our '86.

Good luck,

Just wanted to post my findings for future users:

As of this time, there are no available factory (Porsche) or Textar front brake pads available with notches to fit the original "clip" sensors on the 3.2 series; all current factory and Textar pads (including the part number Gerry thoughtfully provided above) have been superseded to the "press-in" type sensor that resides in the pad material. I was told that this was a fairly specific brake pad that was manufactured for cars built some time ago, and presumably this allows for consolidation of manufacturing. As noted above, the Mintex front pads are still available in the notched version for the original sensors, and Porsche still retails the rear pads with notches.

Some people just take the sensors and tie them up out of the way and install whatever pad they desire that fits.
