What holds onto the door window panes?

Car is a 1987 911 Coupe with electric windows...while I was rolling down the passenger door window, I heard a clunk and the window stopped working. Upon removing the door panels, I found the long piece of metal that holds the bottom of the window pane just sitting in the bottom of my door frame. Obviously it needs to get reattached.

Question is...what is used to get the metal attached to the window pane? Glue? Should there be screws? Pressure?

Usually there is a rubber or felt piece in the lifter. Above there are felt and rubber squeegees on the door top.

Yes, the metal regulator piece is lined with a rubber "c". I can push the glass down into the "c"...but I'm curious to know if it's that easy "friction only". It seems like there should be more to it than that.

Finished this small project. Ended up taking the metal "c" rod, and put some pressure on it with pliers to make the mouth tighter. Then tried to seat the window into it. Couldn't really get it to seat, but when I slowly powered the window up, the force from the motor pushing it wedged it into place a bit more...not sure if that's the best way, but it worked for me. I then powered the window an inch and back up about 4 more times until it was seated to where I thought it should be.

An observation I found was that the better the window seated...but more sluggish the window got. Granted, it's much faster that is way before it broke. I repaired the spring next to the motor about a year ago because it got really slow...and that repair only helped a little. This repair helped a lot more...but it was interesting to see a progression of the window getting slower the further it got seated into the "c".
