I know of one instance where a Connecticut resident registered a 90 p-car in Maine in 2009. The years are important because after the car is a certain age, a title in not needed. He registered it through the MMTA.

Title is only required if it's 1995 or newer in Maine.

Do it in Vermont. Go to their website or search. They don't require to to be a resident. It can all be done via the mail, downside is you have to pay the tax on whatever the NADA low value is.

I can corroborate the Vermont path. I did mine in VT, and I am a Connecticut resident. I can confirm the sales tax issue, but it would have been the same in Connecticut.

Yes, fill out the Vermont paperwork, get the LOW value for the car from the NADA and print that page. Figure the tax and then add the registration fees. In 2 weeks you get a transferable registration and a plate good for 1 year. You do not even have to have insurance to do this part of it. To drive it you need insurance. You can then take your transferable registration to your home state and get a registration and plate there ot just leave it in vermont and pay them every year....

The Maine thing only works for trailers.
