Fuzion 2Ri tires?

Hi

In the next few days I'm going to take a closer look on a 79 SC. From the sales pictures I can see that it runs on Fuzion 2Ri tires. I have never heard of those before. Are they any good?

Rgds.

Holger

I had those on my SC for a few years and they were great tires. Be sure to ask how old they are, though. They are made by Bridgestone. They are ZRi.

I have had them on my car for several years. I don't track the car anymore so I can't comment on all out traction, but I like them for street use. They are very good in both the dry and wet, the ride is firm but not harsh, and they are reasonably priced. Tire Rack gave them a very good review and I agree.

Alright, thanks a lot. It's an unknown brand here in Denmark, and I feared those Fuzion tires might be a short cut, which wouldn't bode well for the rest of the car.

As stated prior, these are made by Bridgestone. I had a set on my old BMW 525i and they were great.

Surprised to see the good reviews, we had brand new ZRis on our S60R and they wore quickly, had little wet or dry grip compared to the later (industry leading, I know) Michelins, and even seemed to accumulate flats quicker than any other tire.

Guess they are cheap, at least. Maybe we had a bum set.

I had those for a while, and were very prone to flat spotting. I got rid of them.

Tires shouldn't be deal breaker. If the rest of the car is good, go for it, then replace the tires with your preferred brand.

I agree, they shouldn't be a deal breaker. But second rate tires can be a sign, that there are other second rate issues on the car that are less easy to spot.

To infer that scenario might allow an otherwise solid car to slip through your fingers. If possible, insist on a PPI from an independent shop, then let that result guide you. Perhaps more direct visual evidence might be the condition of the Fuchs wheels (if equipped), a look at the dip stick/oil filler cap, condition of the battery box, under carpet/trunk mat, etc. All of the above relative to the owner's asking price. Is there a friendly Porsha owner nearby that can provide a second pair of eyes?

Good luck with the process of finding the right car for you.

Obviously you know your stuff to be researching things on a site such as this. But if I can offer some advice; you must get the head studs checked to see if any are broken. This is the big (and expensive) one for SCs. And a Euro '79 SC is one of the very best 911's you can buy.
