993 wheels on early car. Cool, or blasphemous?

Just for kicks, I popped my 993 wheels onto the Project Elephant to see what it would look like.

Ignore the Paris-Dakar stance and try to imagine this about 2 inches lower. The suspension hasn't caught up with the weight trimming and the car is riding very high right now. Also pretend the paint job is completed.

I know there are plenty who think it's Fuchs or nothing, but have a look at this. Is it cool or just very, very wrong?

I like stock cup wheels in satin finish...kinda the "Fuchs of the 90's". Since it isn't exactly a stock concours car, why not?

I really like it - I'm a big fan of the Cup wheels, and not so big a fan of the Fuchs. I would say, though, that they look a little wide in the front.

My Mommy always told me if you didn't have something nice to say, blah blah blah.

I prefer Fuchs or maybe Minilites (can't decide on the latter). I might have a play in Photoshop.

Not what I would do on my own car; but I still think it looks pretty hot. I would definitely stop and look.

but you spend time and money to lighten the whole car. . . who cares if it looks okay, if the unprung weight can't be justified.
The lighter the car the lighter the unprung weight needs to be, just to keep up. I would choose the lightest rim that will do the job.

The wheels look good but what about the offset? They look alittle off in the front. Maybe the rears too but just not as noticable. If you drop the car you may have clearance issues. Maybe an aftermarket alternative? Try a different offset? WHat are the stock wheel numbers compared to the newer wheels in regards to offset.

I really like it.

Actually, I like those wheels on all 911s, but it makes your car particuarly cute.

I don't like it.

The problem with all the later 911 wheels is that they have offsets like those on a front drive car - flat looking with no visible "dish." Compare those with an 8 inch Fuchs (or even a 7) and you'll see what I mean.

Also, the basic 5 spoke - a little too ubiquitous these days (actually, have been for the past 5-6 years or so). Just about every wheel on the Pep Boys rack is a 5 spoker. But to me its more of the offset than the design.

I don't think its very, very wrong, just not as nice as a set of 15 or 16 x 7 and 8 Fuchs would look on that car.

I put spacers front and rear to get them to bolt up. The front offset looks wrong, that is a at least partially because the front is soooo high. The wheels have positive camber at this nose bleed level.

As for lightness, I will be running 15 inch Fuchs on the track. Toying with the Cup wheels idea for the street only, I am much less concerned about weight on the street. Plus the factory 993 wheels really aren't that heavy for a 17 incher.

Running 17s would let me step up the rolling diameter for the street. That way I can run short gears for the track, and get some of it back with the street wheels.

17-inchers on pre-'90 cars just don't do it for me.

id try and squeeze some 8x15 fuchs on the rear with 225/50/15 and some 7x15 on the front with 205/50/15

the cups don't do it for me unless they are magnesium and bolted to a caged out slammed 964RS

I have to admit, at first I thought no way. But after looking at the pics, I think it would be cool for the street.
