What was MFI with electronic compensation ?
"1982, original 1983 956 used a version of the Indy engine, 935/76, with Bosch/Kugelfischer MFI with electronic compensation devices to improve the fuel economy. "
Can anybody expand on this ? What was the compensation ? I would suspect that it might be possible to rig an O2 sensor with a solenoid to act on the pump where the warm-up regulator is on our cars, but that is just a wild guess. Does anybody have a diagram of the electronic boxes that might have been used (longshot, I know). Might be fun to try and replicate. Michel Richard |

Michel,
There was a similar thread a couple of years ago about 'modifications to the MFI pump using the concept of a variable depth-settimg device acting on the plunger where the warmup thermostat normally resides. My idea was a linear stepper motor with suitable drive electronics. Others suggested just a cable-controlled by a knob on the dash ... ala ... the power knob on the dash of a 917-30! It wouldn't be too dificult to have a closed-loop control with an O2 sensor providing feedback.
