can't shift when cold- too thick a gear oil?
I switched to Valvoline 85W140 gear oil thinking the syncro's like a thicker oil and now I can't get it into gear when cold. - after a few miles, everything shifts ok. any ideas? had Swepco and was a little better. 81'SC

I use the same in my 78 911 Targa and yes, when it's cold it's a little difficult to get into gear.
Don't know if there's anything you can do about it short of changing to another MFG oil which may or may not help. Steve |

I know that swepco is supposed o be the oil for the 915 trans
and everone wants to protect the syncros but have you tried a synthetic with like 75w140 or red line. keith |
