tread depth

So at what tread depth is it time to order new tires for the rear of a 911 ?
1/8" 3/16 " ???

There will be wear bars in the grooves of the tread. There will be several around the tire circumference. When the bars are flush with the tread lug it is time to change. It is better to change prior to this since hydroplaning increases as tread depth decreases.

A few extra thousand miles is not worth the risk of hydroplaning.

Thanks,
Interesting. The tread wear on my SO2 poles is more towards the center of the tire. Perhaps the circumference marks will not represent the wear.
Also I rarely see rain, but that is no excuse, streets may be wet with mist from fog along the coast in So Cal. a hydroplane could be devastating.
More comments welcome !!

Cheers,
Mrdi

IMHO, the S-03 are a better street tire..but don't look as aggressive as the S-02...................Ron

The bars go all the way across the tread, in each of the grooves.

I believe the legal limit for safe road use (if there even is such a thing) is 2/32, which is a fancy way of saying 1/16 of an inch.
