I don't know why they did this on the 28th. I think it is the first event SVR is having all year (since losing Mather) and they scheduled it for the same day as a Golden Gate Region autocross at Alameda Naval Base...
I'd love to run at McClellan, but I've commited to set up the course at Alameda for GGR. There's going to be Porsche fun all over Northern California this weekend! Dean |

GGR has all the fun! I look on the calendar and it's "GGR Time Trial" and "GGR Auto-X" What does SVR have? Tours. Blech.
From what I've heard from the BMW camp, it's the same thing - the SF region has lots of cool activities, the Sacramento region has zip. Maybe it's time for a coupe [sic]. Maybe time is right for the younger, 'drive it' crowd to take over...

So how was the event at McClellan, Thom? I think that event took its toll on attendance at the GGR event. We only had 77 drivers whereas we normally draw more than 100.
The Alameda course was big and relatively fast. We had a nice 150 foot radius sweeper at the far end of the course and two slaloms! What is the McClellan site like? How was the turnout? Dean |

The McClellan site is much different than the Mather site. For one, the surface is much more consistent, without the asphalt-concrete-asphalt transitions of the aircraft staging pad used @ Mather.
The course was fast - a couple of times I got into 3rd. I don't know who designed the course, but I suspect Glen Brooksby had a hand in it, as an excuse to open up his 3.8L beast. Due to the smaller overall size, the course wasn't very long. The fastest times were in the 41-second range; the slowest in the low 50's. My best was a 45.0xx
