Corner Balancing - Northern NJ / NYC region
Hey Folks,
Tried a bit of searching to no avail... My car's alignment seems to be a bit off. I had it aligned a little over a year ago (about 2-3k miles) after it was lowered, but the rear end seems to have too much negative camber, and I'd like to have things readjusted. I have a good mechanic, but he farms out the alignment work, so rather than going through him, I'd like to find a place that will give me a solid alignment and do corner balancing. My car is kept in Somerset County, NJ - so anything in that general region is preferred, but if I have to travel a few extra miles for the right shop, I have no problem doing so. I don't necessarily want to see the most expensive shop in town, unless their quality of work is unrivaled. Suggestions? Thanks!! |

No one will do the job as well as you ( imo ) even if you are slow slow slow.
At 1st it seems greek. But in the end it is just numbers For What you spend at the shop i think you now can buy some pretty good scales for.

Corner balancing is way more than lowering and jacking each corner. Every time you adjust the height in one corner on our 911s, the other three corners change, in both scale weight and alignment. So, unless you're ready to shell out big bucks for a set of scales and alignment references, better to let the pros do the final adjustments.
BodyMotion in Ocean has done right by me in the past. Bill K

Thanks guys!
Bill, I used BodyMotion recently to do some glass work and paint - seemed pretty knowledgeable but they're just not close or easy to get to - esp. with shore traffic on the weekends. Fairfield is much more in my neck of the woods - I'll give Eurotire a call! |

(2) good sources are:
Powertech, Rockway NJ (just off Rt 80, west of rt 287) PowerTech Auto hause, Peapack , NJ http://www.********eclassiccars.com/index.php (That's weird - the Pelican web site thinks Gene's shopname is a bad word. Just type in auto hause (without the space) and the web link works fine.) Auto hause has gotten rave reviews over the years, mostly because of Gene. Powertech did the corner balancing on my car a few years back and did a great job for a reasonable price. Last edited by dw1; 08-11-2014 at 08:27 AM.. |

Gene is who I use for a mechanic. He's great, but I'm pretty sure he sends his alignment work out to the local STS

Alignment is mostly contingent on corner balance and verse a visea
Unless maybe you fudged the toe or camber on front. Like said, the instant you change the ride ht you changed most everything. Its just numbers.

I've written about this a lot. It takes a while to do it correctly. The time spent can vary tremendously depending on how your car is set up. If you have coil overs it's an easy job. If you have a stock 911 takes a lot longer.
Here's one article. Here's another. Richard Newton |
