Question 1974 911S Engine, HP and History

I decided to buy a Porsche 1974 911S. What was the original motor that came with this car? What size of engine? How much HP? What is a price range of one of these in perfect all around condition? Did this car have fuel injection from the factory? Thanks

My owners manual states the following:

Engine size 2.7L or 163.97 ci

8.5 compression ratio

167 hp @5800rpm

168 lb/ft @ 4000rpm

And I believe the engine # should be 634 0001 - 634 9999

Well Wayne your right and I'm right.

My Spec book lists DIN at 175 hp

and

SAE at 167 hp

The owners manual only states SAE hp rating of 167.

Kringer2,

That middle-year targa looks really, really nice!

Thanks I'm new to the whole Porsche thing.

I've faster and more powerful cars. But none as fun to drive as this.

Thanks again

Kevin
