996 Brake Lights Stay On

I have a 2002 Carrera Cab, that I'm hoping for some technical insight as I have just discovered that my brake lights are staying on as long as the car is running. I had replaced the ignition switch (which was a pain to get to) last year, but other than that, I haven't had any electrical problems to speak of. Except of course the occasional anti roll bar malfunction warning that has gone on and off over the last few years. Any help would be appreciated as I'd love to avoid having to take it to the shop for what I hope to be a minor repair.
