Windshield Wiper went too far
All,
I have a 87 911 coupe. While driving in the rain, the passenger wiper travelled too far to the right (typically parked on the left) and get stuck at the bottom of the windshield. I can pick it up and move it back, but every time I run the wiper, it does the same thing. Whatever piece limits the distance the wiper travels seems to be broken. The drivers side wiper works just fine. Anybody know what the name of that part is that I need to replace? Thank you in advance. Wes |

It may be that the mounting hole in the wiper arm is stripped. Lift up the cover and remove the nut. Pull the wiper arm off then turn the wipers on and watch the shaft. If it rotates right and left as it should then the arm is the problem.

I would run the wiper to the point where it gets stuck, turn off the ignition - remove the nut which holds down the wiper arm, reposition the arm where it should stop it's swing, then put the nut back on and see if it travels too far the other direction or what - and adjust from there.
