Anyone have advice on how to remove a fitting from engine shroud - Photo Attached

I'm in the process of refinishing my engine shroud.

Does anyone have any tips on how to remove the metal port that the charcoal canister connects to. It has a special clamping ring that I have no idea how to remove without destroying.

If it must be destroyed, does anyone know of a source for replacement?

Thanks!

Looks like a metal star washer holding it in place.
You should be able to pry the outer edge up and then twist and wiggle it off slowly.
No guarantees though

They aren't made to be removed, with out destruction. Can you just mask it off

you could use a small needle nose to bend back each tab, then flatten tabs to reuse if necessary.

I think I will check at my local hardware store. If I can replace the washer part, then I will just cut it off.

I prefer not to mask as I have already removed all the rivets, etc.. and I want this to be as close to perfect as possible (without re-gelcoating or buying a new shroud).

Thanks!

It will pry off with a small screwdriver quite easily, just did it a year or two ago.

What Eastbay said. Orange mini picks and screwdrivers from HF.
Take your time and be patient. Easy Deal ..............
