Any tips on replacing side mirror glass? '88 3.2

Ugh! Was driving down bumpy road and the mirror (glass) just fell out of my driver side rear view mirror. I could hear it shattering upon the road. I see our host has the mirror. Anyone have experience, advice, tips on making the repair? Thanks in advance. yaz

if you simply lost the glass (and not the mounting backing), you can have a glass shop cut you a replacement mirror and secure it onto the backing -- this should save you a few $$$$

Thought about that too. Any experience on what substance works best to secure it?

These people helped me.
I used 100% silicone after cleaning the base up.Spread fairly liberally.I then used painters tape and a small kitchen sponge and wrapped tightly around mirror base.Worked well.

944 mirror glass is a perfect fit. You can buy just the glass without the heating element, unlike with the 911.

I'm in the same boat... mine fell off a few months ago and I can't seem to find any local mirror shops close by that do car mirrors. I bought a cheapo Pep Boys generic one and stuck it on temporarily. Looks cheesy because it's small and a funny shaped to fit on stock backing plate.

This just happened to me too. I have 944 glass only on order from one of the sites. I believe. It was $12.
