Help 1970 Tranny

Fellow Pelicans,

I took apart my 1970 911 Tranny today to check out 2nd and 3rd gears. They both look good. Now I need to put it back together. How accurate do the gaskets that go between the intermediate plate and rear of the tranny have to be? When I pulled it apart I measured 1 gasket to be between .1 and .12 and the other between .15 and .19. Should I go with a .1 and .15 or a .1 and .2?

Cheers,

Vik

The gaskets on the gearbox were used to set pinion depth. They need to be the same as what was in there previously.

The best place to measure the thickness of the gaskets at one or more of the non-compressed spots. There are several, and they're pretty obvious. You should have the same measurement as the total of the gaskets that came out. Measure yours there and come up with a total, use whatever matches that.
