Engine number 1 digit off? Interesting
Evening Gents,
I was comparing all number/serials on my 84 911. I had suncoast run a full report on my car. The report shows the my engine number is 64E03762. When looking on the engine, it shows 64E03763. Its one digit off. Is the normal? Has anyone seen this before? This car has confused me quite a bit with its option codes and interior codes not matching what was sent with the car from factory. ( Interior option codes shows one thing, car came from factory with another. Spoke to Orig owner) Is this common? Thanks guys, really appreciate your help. Anthony |

Looks like another factory error.
If a lot of the info on the car is wrong, then they probably made an error with the VIN somehow. If you give them the engine #, and your VIN, then they could look for the engine in adjacent VIN's and see if the options match better that way. Not sure if I can help more, but would be interested in trying. PM me your VIN. |
One off
The COA for my '69S was one digit off for my transmission.

You can also call 1-800-PORSCHE, option 5, with questions. They will be happy to help with information. You don't have to order the COA to ask questions.

Lots of shoddy records regarding COAs. They are frequently wrong or incomplete. On my Bumble Bee COA is says transmission number unknown. They have no record of what number went in my car even though all my options and engine number are correct. The serial number is in the right range for the month my car was made so I assume it is original. If I ever sell it, I will just disclose it but don't lose and sleep over it.

Thanks Matt!
