Wipers turned themselves on and won't turn off

1973 car ....


Turned the ignition on and started the car , wipers automatically turned themselves on, initially silightly intermittent, then all the time ( 73 car doesn't have intermittent ). Now can turn them off. All other wiper positions the wipers are as they should be, just not in the off position

Going to assume its might wiper stalk that's the problem ?

Or maybe a bad earth ?

Any suggestions ? Also where is the main ground earth for the wiper circuit ?
