Road tripping with 3G

On my recent 21 day road trip though Europe we did not make one hotel reservation as we did not want to be tied to a schedule. We drove where we wanted until we agreed we should look for a place to stay, fired up the iPad and used Booking.com: 532,109 hotels worldwide. 35+ million hotel reviews.. There were always at least 10 hotels with reasonably priced and available rooms within 5-20 minutes of our location. The maps to the hotel location and directions were usually pretty easy to follow. We counted on being checked in, moved in and at a local pub or at the hotel restaurant within 30 minutes of deciding to stop.

All the hotels were nice, some better than others but no dumps at all, big breakfast included at all hotels.

It makes planning a trip a lot easier and avoids re-booking anything because of delays or change of plans.

I have used Hotels.com - Cheap Hotel Deals: Hotels, Motels, Extended Stay for the same thing and don't see any difference, we just started on bookings.com and stayed with it. There are other booking sites that are probably the same.
