How to remove instrument bezel cleanly?
Gentlemen,
I plan to restore my instruments as part of my 71T restoration, but have always had trouble getting the bezels off cleanly. The Pros have a special machine with a large fulcrum arm and they can just peal them off without effort or damage. I’ve tried to use smooth rod rather than a screw diver tip, but without much success. I always seem to end up having to prise them off leaving little crinkles all around the folded edge. Has anyone come up with a home-method of getting instrument bezels off cleanly? |
I just experimented with a old speedometer using a very very thin screwdriver and didn't hurt the bezel. The only thing I'm going to work on is putting some rubber on the lower jaw of a pair of pliers so when I crimp the lip back down it doesn't scratch the face.
