New Project, widebody Targa roller

Recently acquired from my brother (I buy all his old P-car stuff) is a '78 Targa with widebody conversion, turbo suspension and brakes and boxes upon boxes of parts also a 915 with external cooler. I plan on this being a long project at least 2 years so the car will be outside the smog requirement timeframe (25years or older). I want to make it a fast and fun street car with some DE possible but I'll probably keep the 3.0 912 for the heavy track work. I'd like a "race look" interior with a non-intrusive rollbar and race seats but still retain daily driver capabilities. The whole car needs painted. I have a real turbo tail for it as well. So I need ideas on wheels, body, engine (3.6 or turbo most likely), suspension etc. I'll be doing ALL the work myself, I have a complete shop at my disposal and I'm not afraid to tackle any project, I'm also very skilled at fabrication, welding and engine building. I've set a budget of $18k.

Give me some ideas, remember I'm doing ALL the labor so the budget goes straight to parts, and what I don't use can be sold to put more cash into the car (wife's approval hehe :B ) As it stands it has everything but the 3.0 that was in it and zero rust.

Oops forgot, it's missing a top and wheels. Everything else is there including two hoods and two sets of doors one power one standard.

Give Addictionms an email. He is a very, very, very nice guy, a wrench, owns various Porsches, race cars, etc. (did I mention him being a nice guy?).

He just chopped a targa. I think I saw the targa top in his garage on Sunday!

Good luck!
