Exhaust / muffler for a 3.0
I have a 3.0 in my 77S.
Anyone just love the sound of their exhaust? If you do please post what you have. Thanks |

a lot of us are running M&K pieces on our 3.2s. might want to give them a look. they have quite a solid following.

Banned but not out, yet..

On my 3.0 I have a Danske sport and the sound it puts out is great. Not droney, not too loud with normal driving, but when you nail it, it lets out a lousy angry bellow. Best of all worlds for me.

I have a 3.0 SC with SSI headers and a non-sport plain steel Dansk muffler. Its plenty loud but a bit farty at idle or low revs for my taste but really wails and sounds great under acceleration or WOT. I am considering an upgrade to a stainless M&K muffler in the future while keeping the SSIs.

I like my $105 Dynomax setup on my 3.2, though I kept my stocker in case I ever decide to sell the car.
sound clip video from inside the car, or see my other videos for sound from various places I've stuck the GoPro. Sporty but not too aggressive at cruise, definitely barks at WOT above 4000rpm. Note I do have a cat, but a high flow one.

On my 81, I ran a fabspeed pre-muffler and a completely gutted 3.2 muffler. At idle and up to 5k or so it sounded great - genuinely throaty. Then it got tinny above 5k. Like the motor did not have the stones to back up the noise. Which at low 9's in compression, it probably did not. I think some "muffle" is required. I put back the stock SC muffler and sold the 3.2 muffler to ScottR in Denver. He has a more powerful engine and I think he is happy with it.

ROW 81 SC, factory pre-muffler into a 1in/2 out Flo-Pro with one outlet capped
I love the sound and have had compliments on the deep tone at idle. ![]()

Put on the Dansk Sport today, just love it. It added some weight over my other one but car feels better (quicker) and the flat spot at4-4.3K is now gone. Sounds just right and no drone.
Thanks for the advice. |
