RS or Yellowbird Rear Bumper with C2/964 Tail lights and Reflector...Will it work?
I am in the process of updating my 82 911SC.
I would like to add the C2/964 rear tail lights and reflector and an RS or Yellowbird rear bumper. I already have the C2 lightbox and a 964 rear bumper but I like the look of the RS/Yellowbird and it would compliment my 74 RS Front bumper. I just dont know if the light shape will work with the RS/Yellowbird Rear bumper. If anyone has experience with that or pics it would be appreciated. |

I just happened upon this and would like to set the record straight. The white car in question was my car. I used many Ruf parts to build a "California legal CTR". I used the 964 rear lights with the Ruf CTR rear bumper combination as I felt this cleaned up the rear of the car. I also modded the lower rear bumper area. The Ruf body parts are a LOT more robust than any of the aftermarket copies I have seen. The extreme rear center bumper section is a very tight fit with this rear light assembly. I suspect that a lot of aftermarket [meaning not Ruf] may not provide enough room for this to work without a rework.
Again, this was NOT a Ruf car. It was built by my brother, Lee Rice of Garden Grove, and me in the early 1990s. He did the major mechanicals. I sourced many factory Ruf CTR [mostly body] parts and did a lot of the other work. This car was built in California and is NOT a Ruf car. It is a RPCS [Rice Performance California Special] :-> Ruf badges were added after my ownership. I believe it degrades from the car as it was never intended to be a fake-o replica but take advantage of some of the most well thought out modifications to make one of these cars insanely fast in the triple digit playground. Herr Ruf knows the car and past/present owners and is probably too polite to suggest that his emblems should not be on it. [I grant you that just the simple addition of those badges changed it from a low key Porsche that was only noticed when it was in action into a car that it seemed everyone who knew nothing gaped at. I drove it a few times after it left my possession and was shocked at how many people noticed to the car.] BTW, this was not a casual project. I could have bought a nice used factory CTR for less than my cost [including countless hours of my time] in those days. There is NO way that a genuine CTR could have or can be registered in California - not legally. I only built this car after exhausting every idea about how to legally bring in and register a CTR.
