915 owners: clean that helper spring!

I already knew this, but last night before a drive I made a point of using a stiff brush and Simple Green to clean the grit and whatnot from between the spring leaves of the helper spring under the trans. Then I regreased it. Result is a smoother clutch pedal.

Give it a try! No need to lift the car, just find a place on your driveway where you can park the car such that you have a bit of room under the trans. I have a sloping driveway and so just "hang" the car at the very lip of the garage floor.

John

PS: If anyone has a writeup on regreasing the steering rack on an SC I would be much obliged. I am going to take Warren's advice and do this when the suspension is out and the tie-rods, etc are being replaced.
