Source for Alternator Brushes -- 78 SC?

I want to replace my alternator brushes (preferrably the entire little assembly in the black plastic box) but cannot find a source on the Internet. Has anyone else had luck finding these? I have the SEV Marchall A14V 60 70A alternator.

Thanks

I would think that any good local repair shop would have them.

Autozone has them for my 1973. Duralast/Alternator Brush (FAX86) | 1973 Porsche 911T 6 Cylinders 2.3L FI | AutoZone.com

I had my alternator rebuilt here in Burlington.

I have a sev marchal alternator on my 76 and I found that a motorolla alternator is the same. One or the other manufactured the alternator for the other. I bought a brush asembly through napa I think. I remember having to slightly dremel modify the mount plate to make it work.

It has been charging perfectly for about 5 years now.

Our host had a brush assembly at the time for $60 I think. The napa set was about $12 dollars at the time.

Sorry Wayne. But it was not a direct drop in replacement...but it has worked.

Thanks all. I ran the brushes by a local shop and he said they had another 100k miles on them. Since that is 10-20 years from now, I guess I will let it go.

If you already had the alternator apart, for a few bucks why didn't you just replace them anyway? Why take chances...?

If I could find someone to sell me the brushes that do not require me to modify them, I would likely replace them. But, I really still don't have a source for these brushes despite all the good suggestions others have made.

Given a modification of a non-fitting set vs. what appear to be a hardly worn set, I am opting to just keep what I know works fine and will likely continue to work well. Gotta triage my projects and move forward. IF, someday, I need to replace brushes, pulling the alternator is not a big job.
