Backdate: Rear fenders/bumpers
Can't seem to find the answer to this:
I'm backdating a 77S to the '73 look. The rear bumper I received has zero flare where it would meet under the rear fender (which has stock flares). Is this normal? Or is the G Series fender more flared than a '73? I've looked at a lot of pics, but still not sure. BTW, I have the Getty rear bumper. ![]()

The photo in the first post shows the fender flare from above with the black bumper below it. Pretty sure these are stock flares - probably just the close-up angle. Here is another pic of the car to show fenders.

Wow, I would have left that car stock with all that patina!
Build it up to be a nice reliable sleeper. Every time you take it out people will be trying to buy it from you. I'm not kidding! Too bad that it is too late now with that blue. Oh well, it was a cool idea.

Interesting thought Wayner. I know that the rough always generate a lot of dreaming. I'm always attracted to the neglected ones myself. This one did in fact "sleep" for about 20 years. The yellow and blue is just primer over what was bronze. But it was too disgusting due too being inhabited by rodents for all those years not to strip it down and start over.

To answer your original question, your rear bumper looks like a short wheelbase rear bumper. How does it look from the side?

The rear bumper should not have any flare for normal fenders.

I am beginning to think it actually is correct. I was initially sent a SWB bumper by mistake. That bumper was much too long for a LWB car. So I don't really think there is a problem - I was just expecting some flaring like but less than the RS/SC/etc has.

What you have looks correct to me. My 70 has a FG rear bumper that has no flare and the fender comes out to meet it. Same way you old bumper should have done.
