another O2 sensor question

While changing plugs this weekend I noticed my O2 sensor had been disconnected. I assume my mech. did this during my last valve adj. I searched previous posts and it sounds like for my car (87), the O2 sensor should not be disconnected. my question...
Can any damage have been done to my engine because of this? My car runs great. Should I reconnect or leave the O2 sensor disconnected?

Thanks,
Don

Don,

I am not the expert, but my extrapolated data tells me that you are better off connecting it.

Again, extrapolated data shows that CSI benefits from the disconnect whereas it is the reverse for non-CIS!

Some guys may think otherwise.

By disconnecting it, you may be running too rich. I had disconnected mine last winter because the car seemed to run better in the colder weather and forgot to reconnect it in the spring. Went for emmissions and failed. Went back after realizing what I had done and passed with emmissions better than most new cars.

If the car runs too rich for too long, you risk losing a few cylinders as you may expell too much unburnt fuel.

So is my belief......
