Replacing Sway Bars
 

Considering upgrading sway bars to Weitmeister thru the body and matching bar in rear. Wanted to know if 19 mm is large enough on these type of adjustable bars. The car is and 82 SC

If you have decided on Welt bars I would use the thicker pair (22 ?)set on soft to start. The factory bars on an 86 were 22/21 SCs stock were 20/18 I think

I would use 19mm's. The through-body bars have a better geometry (more leverage) than the stock factory later style bars, so they will be stiffer. Especially if you only have stock torsion bars I would stay with the smaller bars.

And you should really look into stiffer rear torsion bars so you can use as little sway bar as possible. 22 Weltmeisters broke the rear mounts on my car with 27mm torsion bars.

19s should be plenty for an SC. Fleiger makes a good point on the mounts. If the mounts hadn't already torn, they definitely will when you go with a stiffer bar. Shouldn't be too complicated, WEVO, Elephant Racing, etc...for the most part are pretty much the same but equally as important for both the front and the rear. JB (Jim Buckley Racing) is real knowledgeable on SCs so it might be helpful to you to contact him on this.

I've used them for years. The tricky part is getting the adjustment correct. You need to be concerned about corner entry.

Actually back in the day I would adjust mine until the unloaded front wheel was just off the ground. Hey, it worked for me and I won a few championships. That was before we got all techie and started using data loggers and pyrometers. I actually think it was more fun back in the crude old days.
