Turbo Tie Rod Ends - Evidence??
Is there an easy way to determine if turbo tie rod ends have been installed on an SC? I have been told that at the steering box, the turbo ends use a ball joint while the stock ends use a u-joint. Can anyone confirm this? Are there any exceptions?
Thanks much for the help Chuck |

Yes, you can turn the steering wheel all the way to one side and stick your head in and see if the turbo tie rods have been installed. The original rods have a U-joint connetion into the steering rack, the turbo rods have a ball joint connection. No exceptions I am aware of?

You can actually see the inner connection on standard tie rods - it is outside the boot so you will see a bolt and a yoke and a rubber-centered fitting. The outer hole of the rubber boot is about 2 inches in diameter.
The turbo tie rod inner joint is inside the boot - so you can only see the shaft poking out through the boot. The outer hole of the boot is about 1/2 inch diameter. |
