'You're not going to like this (pics)...'

Okay:
What is the worst thing you can imagine finding when you go to your car at 8 am on a Monday morning to head to work? Right...somebody in your complex (even though you pay extra for covered parking) has 'macked' your baby with a $#@! shopping cart and doesn't have balls to 'fess up. I don't mean a scratch...I mean a $950 estimate for the body work and paint (try quickly matching a light shade of gold) or $240 from one of those 'paintless dent removers' (but your paint is broken and lifted). Naturally this would occur within days of closing your business due to weakening cash flow... Okay, you don't have comprehensive, only liability and uninsured motorist. Problem is you were hit by a cart...the apt. manager took pictures of it lying on it's side and took the helpful liberty of filing a police report for you. Now the insurance company has it...so much for 'I think it must have been a hit & run'. So, no $100 deductible it looks like.

Sympathy...please...I beg of you. Any kind words for a brother in pain?!! Just needed to share.
The paint and body on this car was purrrrrrrfect...
Regards,
Ryan

There is no way in hell that was done by a shopping cart. Unless it was going about 95mph. Someone probably backed into a shopping cart and pushed it into your car.

That section of the car is very stout. It would take an extremely heavy object to do that kind of damage.

Botman,

Bless you for your kind words! you should have heard the 'roar' i let out after the initial shock wore off...i think i used the proverbial "WTF"!!!

Wanna hear more? The skinny is that they think it was a paraplegic guy in the building that the manager has been trying to evict for not paying rent! He was apparently seen on another occasion pushing one into a another car by slinging it from his moving truck. The manager's car has been keyed and...she parks right next to me. Talk about wrong place, wrong time...

Yeah, and I'll be a real hero...all 6'2" and 240 lbs. of me jerking this poor guy out of his chair by the neck to accuse him. You just can't catch a break... No eye witness anyway. Anyway, thanks for being the first to sign my 'sympathy book'! How about this fix (pic) my girlfriend gave me?!

Regards,

Ryan

tyson,

that was my initial thought as well...still a possibility, but you should see the 'armored' shopping carts this place uses for residents to move in with groceries, etc. they're plated all around with high impact plastic and very heavy. besides, there's a pretty good grade and they think it was deliberately sent into it but aiming for the managers car.

regards,
ryan

shopping cart or armoured truck?

I think I might agree with Tyson here. I'd like to see the shopping cart that can do that kind of damage. Even if it were hurled by some one I can't imagine someone in a wheelchair getting the leverage needed to get a shopping cart to do that kind of damage. 20 years of experience in the autobody business would make me question wonder what really happened here.

Man, it makes me feel sick to look at it and it's not even my car! The sooner you get it fixed, the sooner you'll feel better. Good luck.

Porsche Crest

Ryan,

Sorry to hear of this incident!

Although it was painful initially, with no witnesses ... I see no point in pursuing the matter of 'guilt' ...

Since it wasn't a moving accident, it should be covered as vandalism, and not affect your rates. I hope your adjuster is cooperative ... the insurance company MAY, or maybe NOT become the villain!

I'd give some serious thought to taking that young man on a walk in his chair to the top of a nice long hill. Bummer Ryan.

Here's a theory......maybe he sat the the shopping cart in order to get the speed and required weight to make that much damage........now at the speed he would have been travelling and the projected flight path...... hummmmmm......maybe check in the far corner of the garage for the crumpled mess of a culprit!

No help really but the mental picture of a guy in an army jacket long hair and an scraggly beard came to mind so fast then it was scary......

I just got my baby in July. First and only Porsche. Personally, I would spend most of my waking hours finding the SOB who did it and beat the H*LL out of them. Not the voilent type? Here are a few ideas:
1) call the power company and tell them you will (the guilty party) be travelling for the next month so kill your electricity and gas.
2) send a change of address to an another address, preferably Nome Alaska
3) call telephone company and tell them you can no longer afford a telephone and to disconnect immediately.

Repeat as necessary.

Man, I feel for you. That really sucks. Find the culprit and take necessary action.

You got sympathy here.

Handicapped or not, that is straight up vandalism and the gloves are off. There is no reason to have to bend to this.

People like that are incapable of respect for others and definitely have none for themselves. It's a damn shame that some people can't handle the fact that others have something nice that they dont. They act, as a way to "get even" for being shorted in life, like you're to blame. Screw paitence, time to get even.

Let's hope it was unintentional. But then again, please do collect, and collect big for this, do this for me. I've been in your shoes before.

Agree w/ Tyson and Kevin, that is not from a shopping cart. That damage was caused by something weighing in the tons. And it's a "single strike".

Paintless dent removal ?? They gave you an estimate on that? What?

Also don't understand how a quadrapeligic could swing that. Sure you don't mean parapelegic? (Still has arms)? Bummer anyways, that is substantial damage.

EDIT: Scratch that last question. I re-read, you DID say para....

Hit and run is covered under un-insured motorist coverage.

Your dent appears from the picture to have been caused by a car and not a shopping cart. Uninsured motorist coverage pays for hit and run by a car. You usually have to report the accident to the police to get the insurance company to pay.

Sorry, I did not read your entire post.

You still may be able to collect under uninsured motorist coverage though. Each state has different forms for this coverage. Read the definition of vehicle carefully.

Dude! That sucks! That is beyond the damage catagory and well into the carnage catagory. If that was caused by a shopping cart then I would like to see the Jato rockets they had strapped to the thing =)

Man, I am sorry, that is enough to bring tears to your eyes. I agree with Tyson, though, there is no way a shopping cart moving at shopping cart speeds could have done that dent.

"Could have been worse...

Bill, nice response. That is definitely very thoughtful of you. I am sure that made him fell a whole lot better, and the thing is you actually took time out of your schedule to submit that. Wow.
