SS Heat Exchangers Direct Bolt-On to 77?

Getting to know car a little better, I've gone through all the receipts. Looks like my thermal reactors were removed from the heads and refinished during a valve job 3 years and 5K miles ago. Should this mean that they should be (relatively) easy to remove? I've been a bit scared of the job after reading about all of the broken studs. But now I'm thinking I should do the job ASAP before the bolts get good and rusty.

Also, I have a 2-in 1-out muffler, so I think I can just bolt on some early heat exchangers, but I'm not too sure about the oil lines. Does anyone out there know if the oil lines need to be redone on a bone-stock 77 911S 2.7 from California to fit the better heat exchangers?

One last thing, I still have the air-pump on the car. Should I wait until the thermal reactors are gone before I remove it? Will they cook the heads even more without the airflow?

The car runs well as-is and the oil stays around 205-215, even when I'm pushing it (no DE's yet), but I want to make sure it'll last awhile.

Very much a newbe to this.

David:

Call me (check PM) I have been through the whole process as my car was a Calif car with the thermal reactor replacements, etc and put SSIs on it. I would be glad to walk you through it, as well as take a look at it with you this weekend if you like.
